Blog in progress

I am trying to set up my Christmas blog and it may take a week, but you should have fun touring Santa's Cottage. Christmas means a lot to me, but most of all, it is about the Birth of Jesus. I have been a collector for over 30 years and have recently given some things away, as I acquired a few things from my parents collection. All though our house is tiny by today's standards, I still try to put up as much as I can. Seeing the faces of little children and adults make me smile and it's a wonderful feeling sharing it with people. Opening House will be December 15Th, so I hope you return and take the tour. One of my memories is mom's silver tree she bought in 1966 and I wish I had it now, but we are not sure what she did with it. Wish it were in the attic and will have my brother check it out. For our anniversary, Al got me the Hawthorn Nativity Village and I am hoping the rest of the pieces come in before Christmas. There are 50 figures to go with the display and some are ornaments that hang on the tree.
The picture of all of us was taken when I was 10. We went into the woods and cut our own trees back then and strung popcorn on the tree, plus some very old mercury ornaments and paper chains. I have some of the old plastic ornaments mom had and will have to find a way to display them. Wish I could find some old reflectors and the stiff garland that we had. I do have 3 candy canes made of the same material.

I remember the day I found out there was no Santa. I awoke after returning from midnight mass and found my grandpa and mom hauling packages from his house and out of a closet. But I was a good girl and kept the secret from my 3 younger siblings. I cried and really wasn't ready to hear that. So I just think "Yes, Patricia, there is a Santa Claus and he lives in my heart along with Jesus"!

I hope to see many Christmas displays on your blogs, because it is so uplifting, especially to see all the Pink displays. I do have a small pink tree for my bedroom that is table size and will get busy making some things to hang on it.

My wish this year is that everyone is Blessed and learns the true meaning of giving. Tis better to give than receive---at least for me it is. Merry Christmas, Pat
